What is Climate Change?
Climate change refers to long term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Some of these changes may be
naturally occurring but the main driver is human activity from burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. Burning
fossil fuels generate greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane which act as a blanket around the earth
trapping the suns heat and raising temperatures. The rise in temperature is why you often hear the term “global
warming”.
Global warming results in many changes in our environment droughts, water scarcity, rising sea levels, flooding,
melting polar ice and catastrophic storms.
